Pricing and Payment Questions

Money questions come up before anything else, so here they are first. Every answer follows the same principle: you know the full figure before the work begins.

How is the price for clearing a drain worked out?

The plumber finds the cause first, then quotes a fixed upfront price for the whole job before any work begins. There is no hourly rate running while the tools are out.

Do you charge by the hour?

No. Once the cause is known, you agree one fixed price for the whole job before we start, so a slow clear never turns into a bigger bill than the one you signed off.

How do I pay once the job is done?

You pay by card or EFTPOS on the day the work is done, after the line has been tested and drains freely. The plumber has the terminal on hand.

Can I get a quote before deciding anything?

Yes, and that is how every job runs: the cause is diagnosed, the fix is explained, and the price is agreed with you before any tool goes into a pipe.

Do I need to be home while the work happens?

For the diagnosis and the price, it helps if you are, because the plumber will want to show you what the camera found and talk through the options on the spot.

What details help when I first call?

Which fixtures are slow, how long it has been happening, and whether more than one drain is affected. That points the plumber toward the branch or the main line before the van arrives.

Booking and Coverage Questions

These cover who turns up, where the vans run and what happens when the fault turns out to be someone else's pipe.

Can a plumber usually come the same day?

Usually, yes, when you call in the morning. We can usually be there the same day, and the person on the phone will give you an honest window.

Which suburbs does the service cover?

Toowong plus Bardon, Auchenflower, West End, St Lucia and Taringa, all on the same regular run. The villa-era clay pipes common through the western side are familiar territory.

Are you a franchise?

No. It is a locally owned and operated plumbing and drainage business, so every job is done by a licensed plumber.

Who does the work when a van arrives?

Our plumbers, all working under a current QBCC plumbing and drainage licence, QBCC No: 15024607. The licence covers every drain job we take on, from a slow shower to a collapsed line.

What happens if the blockage is in the street main?

A stoppage out in the Urban Utilities sewer main belongs to the water authority, not to you. If the camera shows the fault sits there, we say so plainly rather than quote you for a fix that is not ours to make.

How far ahead should I book a camera inspection?

For a drain that still works, a few days is usually fine. If water is backing up into showers or yard grates, call (07) 3524 0742 and it will be treated as urgent.

Drain Services and Local Conditions Questions

The last group deals with methods and with the local conditions that shape how a drain behaves here.

Call (07) 3524 0742

What methods are used to clear a blocked drain?

An electric eel cuts through root masses, and jet blasting washes grease and silt off pipe walls. The right method depends on what the camera shows is sitting in the line.

When is a CCTV inspection worth booking on its own?

When a drain keeps blocking after each clear, or before buying in one of the older villa streets. The survey shows shifted joints, root entry and cracks that a simple clear never reveals.

Can cracked pipes be repaired without digging up the whole yard?

Often, yes. A resin liner cures inside a cracked pipe through a single access point, which suits established gardens, though a fully collapsed section still needs to be excavated and replaced.

Do you clear stormwater drains as well as sewer lines?

Yes. Yard grates, downpipe lines and storm outlets are all part of the service, and they matter most before the November to March storm season loads them with leaves and runoff.

What should never go down a toilet or sink?

Wipes of any kind, paper towel, cooking fat and coffee grounds. In Toowong's older earthenware lines, the shifted joints already form ledges where anything fibrous or greasy can catch and build up.

Does the suburb's flood history change how drains are treated?

It can. Council's mapping places streets such as Land Street and Josling Street within the flood records for 1974, 2011 and 2022, so after a high river we check lines for silt and debris the water pushed back in.
